Winter Singalong
Hello all,
Please find links to some of the songs that students are learning in music class to sing together during our Holiday Singalong. This singalong will follow the presentation of the Winter Solstice Play and presentation by some of our students.
Kwanzaa
This fantastic song teaches our students about the 7 days of Kwanzaa and the importance of each of the days for those of African descent that celebrate this wonderful holiday. The original song video is no longer available, but it is such a strong engaging song for students that we will use it despite the audio quality. A fantastic element of this video is that the song is also represented through American Sign Language.

Hanukkah
Our students will be learning a song called Ocho Kandelikas this year. This song comes to us from Portugal, and is sung in Ladino. It tells of the many parties that will be held, featuring pastries of almonds and honey.

Eid
Many of our families celebrate their most significant cultural holidays at other times of the year. We will sing and share about the traditions of Eid during our holiday singalong with this teaching song that will help our students to wish their classmates "Eid Mubarak" this coming March.

Christmas
Our concert will feature student favourites such as Jingle Bell Rock and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. We will also sing a rousing version of the French children's song "Quand le Pere Noel". All classes are learning this simple French song featuring repeated vocabulary to support and prepare for Grade 4 core French.
Happy Holidays to all!

Hello. I wanted to inquire when the holiday song along was?
ReplyDeleteOliver, I'm so sorry that I didn't respond to this -- I'm not getting email notifications for comments and I had thought that I would. I'll fix this right away.
